Global Education Week 2019

For the week of January 28 through February 1, Solebury School hosted our annual Global Education Week!

The photo shown here denotes Costa Rica, where Solebury hosted a 2017 spring break trip and will return again this spring. 这名学生的帖子捕捉到了旅行和体验新文化的美好:“两年前我去了哥斯达黎加, and I fell in love with everyone's laid back attitude. Growing up in New York, everyone's in such a rush. I don't think anyone enjoys anything because they're rushing."

Also, as a preview to Global Ed Week, 9th grader Morgan Barnes hosted a K-Pop Night in Holmquist Dorm on Saturday, January 26. Students chose the music videos to watch and snacked on special treats!

Monday

Traditional Clothing + Flag Day
Students wore traditional outfits from their native countries, like these Solebury School students from China...

Students taught friends and faculty paper cutting: “Paper cutting is a traditional artwork in China. Chinese people cut red paper into different patterns, and glue them on windows as a lucky and happy symbol.

Tuesday

During Arts Period, students watched the film, LIYANA.

At lunch, students and faculty participated in Chinese calligraphy. The students below taught us how to write our names in Chinese. They were wonderful teachers!

Global Ed. Film Night, screening short films including Welcome to Canada,关于“一名年轻的叙利亚难民在加拿大获得庇护”,以及 Pixar's Sanjay's Super Team, "the story of a young, 第一代印度裔美国男孩,他对西方流行文化的热爱与父亲的传统发生了冲突."
